Former North Carolina Tar Heels quarterback Drake Maye is using his second season in the NFL to propel him to stardom. And on Sunday, he did something no other NFL quarterback has done in history.
In a 42-10 blowout win over the New York Jets, Maye finished the game 19-of-21 for 256 passing yards, 5 touchdowns, and a passer rating of 157.0. He became the first player in NFL history to complete 90% of his passes, 250+ passing yard,s and 5 TDs in a single game.
Maye was absolutely fantastic on Sunday and got into a groove early, never getting out. The blowout win also helped the New England Patriots clinch the AFC East division title, as Buffalo lost to Philadelphia later on in the afternoon.

With the Patriots winning the division in their first year with Mike Vrabel, a big reason has been the play of Maye as an MVP candidate. He’s become the best quarterback in the 2024 draft class and now has the postseason to prove it even more.
